Fishing is often a must for travelers to our locale. The area lakes are aggressively stocked with varieties of trout and salmon. Our summers are not complete without trips to Valdez for pink and silver salmon.

The Arctic village of Barrow is just a seventy minute plane ride away. There, you can spend the day appreciating a culture that has survived in one of the harshest climates on earth and still be back to the warmth of Fairbanks for a late dinner.

Fairbanks

There are many ways to see Fairbanks. Well maintained bike paths surround town and wander throughout the area. Rental bikes are available at Alaska Outdoor Rentals along with kayaks or canoes if an adventure on the river is what you had in mind.

In winter, those same paths are used by cross country skiers. The river is also a popular route for snowmachiners, dog mushers, and skiers. Cross country skis in various sizes are available here at Anschen Log House and the trail is right outside the back door!

Close by is The University of Alaska, Fairbanks. The Large Animal Research Station is just the place you want to be if you have ever had a question about muskox. The Museum of the North needs a full half day to absorb all that is offered on Alaska history. Don’t leave the campus until you’ve toured the Georgeson Botanical Garden. If you are not here for the Tanana Valley State Fair you will still have an opportunity at the Garden to see what the midnight sun can do for a head of cabbage!
