Welcome to Anschen Log House
Anschen Log House was built in 1976 with huge logs harvested from the Tanana Valley State Forest.
The massive fireplace is constructed with rock hauled from Shaw Creek and slabs of marble mined in nearby Fox.
In its day, the home was one of the premier residences on the Chena River. Many beautiful homes have since been built, but few contain the Alaskan history of this home.
The original owners were Gareth and Miranda Wright. They raised their children and developed a mushing kennel on this property. When they finally decided to downsize, they had no desire to leave their beloved homestead. They can be found just next door in their new home.

The Wrights’ decision to sell meant the realization of a lifelong dream for present owners, your hosts Dawn and Paul. The cabin on the Chena represents everything both have worked towards and dreamed about since making Alaska their home.
Paul is a police officer. He loves to repair things and this old house is simply made for his favorite pastime. He takes pride in a flawless lawn, but likes to keep it small so he can still have time to pursue snowmachining in the winter and fishing in summer. Both sports can now be enjoyed right out his own back door!
Dawn has retired from (more years than she cares to admit) owning her own pet grooming service. Now, her happiest moments are spent on the river, on skis, skijoring behind her lab/greyhound mix, Cali. In the summer, there is nothing better than working in the garden, helping flowers reach their full potential with the aid of the midnight sun.
The other two permanent members of the household are the aforementioned Cali, age fourteen, very polite in her old age, and Sydney, age twenty and always glad to shout a hello when company arrives. Sydney is an Umbrella Cockatoo and does a fabulous job of barking a warning when wildlife comes too close to her house. (Cali just likes to watch).

The entire family is company oriented, pleased to share their wonderful slice of Alaska with visitors who have always had their own Alaska dream.
